When you collect email subscribers through a form with Collect subscribers enabled, Liinks can automatically sync those emails to your Mailchimp account. Here's how to set it up:
- Sign in to your Mailchimp account and navigate to the API Keys page under Account > Extras > API Keys (or just click here).
- Create a new API key by clicking the "Create A Key" button.
- Copy the newly created API key.
- Back on Liinks, paste the API key in the "Mailing List Settings" section on your settings page.
- (Optional) If you have multiple Mailchimp contact lists, you can select the list you want contacts to be added to. By default, contacts are added to your global contact list.
- Test by navigating to your Liinks page and submitting an email through your form.
Once connected, every email submitted through a subscriber-mode form is automatically added to your Mailchimp contacts with a Liinks tag, so you can easily filter and segment them.

Setting up a subscriber-mode form
If you haven't created a form yet, the quickest way to start collecting emails is with the Collect Emails block. Click Add Block, scroll to the Engagement section, and select Collect Emails. This creates a form with subscriber mode already enabled. See How to Collect Email Signups for more details.
Common issues
Error message: Your merge fields were invalid.
This error shows up when your Mailchimp audience has required merge fields. To fix it:
- Sign in to your Mailchimp account and head to Audience > Settings > Audience fields and |MERGE| tags.
- Uncheck any required fields (other than Email Address).
- Save changes.
You should no longer see the error when adding contacts.
